This year, my schools theatre drama is Almost, Maine, a romantic comedy from the perspective of multiple lovers in the small, fictional town of Almost. I was tasked with designing the shirt for this play, which all members of the cast and crew receive for their hard work and dedication.
RESEARCHFor my research, I looked up ideas logos from other productions of Almost, Maine, and incorporated elements I liked into my design. These were my favorite of the results I found, and I based my initial design off of the color scheme of one, and the design of another.
CRITIQUESAfter receiving critiques, which were mostly about the color choice and how much the design screamed "Maine", I ended up revising the design from another teacher with blues instead of purple

FIRST DRAFTFor my initial design, I utilized the internet as my primary resource of inspiration in my research, and added my own ideas to the with image in the gallery to the left. Since this design was going to go on a tee shirt, I could use a maximum of three colors. I initially used a royal blue for the background, a low-opacity outline of Maine, white text, and two different colored trees to add depth (this was before I knew I could only use three colors). I then had to revise the colors, where I only used three, and adjusted the layout a little by shrinking the width of the trees and incorporating the official logo we are using for the play.

FINAL PRODUCT
I believe that the final product of the design for the shirt turned out very well. The text is large and prominent, it is obvious that the show takes place in northern Maine (instead of x marks the spot, a heart marks the spot), the trees highlight the nature in the state, and the bench with the couple illustrates the fact that this is indeed a romantic story. This is the design that was approved to actually go onto the tee shirt for all the cast and crew members who have worked hard on this production for months. I can't wait to see the shirt when the design is finally printed!
