For this project, I was asked to make a handful of parody logos with my name in any way I choose. Five of these logos would be created in Adobe Illustrator, while the next five in Adobe Photoshop. The selection of logos were expected to be iconic logos that could be easily recognized by the viewer.
FIRST DRAFT
For this project, I was asked to create ten different parody logos with my name in any manner I choose. Five of these logos were to be created in Adobe Photoshop, and the other five in Adobe Illustrator. The first thing I looked for when I was choosing the logos to recreate were logos that had the same amount of words in it's name that I have in mine, or at least a similar amount. Additionally, I tried finding SVGs for logos that would be more difficult for me to recreate, so they can be created in Adobe Illustrator, since the program offers more design tools. For the logos that would be recreated in Adobe Photoshop, I looked for JPGs that were not incredibly complex and could be completed to the best of my ability with the tools available in that program. For all of these logos, I looked online to find a font match for each of the logos, which I successfully found for all but two of the fonts (the 'Sports' in EA Sports and old Google logo font), so I did not have to recreate the font individually with the pen tool. From there, I started working with the Illustrator logos and tried to incorporate my name into the logos as creatively as possible, which was the same thing I did with the Photoshop logos. Additionally, I was very cautious not to be too destructive of the original logo so it could be easily recognizable, and did, in fact, actually look like the original in most ways.
Once finished with the first draft of these parody logos (as pictured on the left), they were critiqued by my fellow classmates on what was good and what could be improved. From those critiques, I edited the logos in said programs to ensure they were completed to the best of my ability. |
FINAL LOGOS
These final revisions of my parody logos were made based off the feedback given to me by my peers in class. Some logos required much more editing than the other to get to where I wanted them to be in the end, however I believe that each of these logos were worth the time and I am very pleased with the results. All in all, I think this project was a fun way to get back into the school year after a long summer out, however I do not feel it was challenging enough for a level two class. I do believe that I work efficiently on this project and used the time given to the best of my ability and would gladly like to do something like this, perhaps a little more challenging, later in the school year.
